Getting The Most Out Of Life

When we want to get the most out of life and improve on our wellbeing, sometimes we must go beyond merely watching what we eat or exercising a bit more. According to research, our wellbeing is associated with balance, understanding, acceptance and constant growth. However, it’s sometimes difficult to work out what this means, but here’s a few tips you can easily introduce into your everyday life, to start boosting your wellbeing.

  • Stretch, our bodies need to destress and get rid of the muscle tensions that are held there by our mindsets. By focusing on stretching everyday, it distresses the body and also the mind. When we stretech we increase the muscles and ligaments ability to elongate, and this not only increases our flexibility, but enhances our range of movement which helps to prevent injury and improves blood circulation. By focusing on moving- it focuses the mind and slowing the mind for a short time is good for our overall wellbeing. So, whether it’s just bending forward and touching your toes, yoga class or tai-chi, it doesn’t matter. Just 5-10 minutes, once a day, does wonders for your body’s natural resilience, and has a good impact on your general mood.
  • Eating fruit, veg and foods rich in nutrients, containing the B vitamins and serotonin production, increase the happiness chemical in your brain. Minerals such as magnesium are also good for us and are linked to a whole host of vital functions. Including, muscle repair, regulating blood sugar and blood pressure levels, as well making protein and bone within the body. These are all found in things like chickpeas, kidney beans, spinach, broccoli, sprouts, figs, avocado, bananas, raspberries, oranges, nuts and seeds .
  • Meditation and mindfulness, they not only boost your brain performance, but it alleviates stress, increases compassion, and helps with our low moods and anxiety. By focussing on the present, not the past or the future – the things you can’t control, you are better placed to deal with trouble when it strikes. The practices, help us to deal with whats happening as its happening, and a strategy of naming out your mood to manage your mood. Just by saying “I’m worried” or “I’m anxious” to friends or family, can dissipate those negative emotions and according to research this helps to improve our wellbeing now and in the future.
  • Learn resilience by changing your mindset, whatever life throws at us we need to learn to think, that we’ll find a way to deal with it and we’re capable of withstanding it. By believing that we are equipped to weather the storm and bounce back and have courage to deal with it, we build our inner mind strength. This mindset aids us more it’s like our life jacket. One way to be resilient when your overwhelmed by your -To-Do list, is to break down bigger aspects, into a smaller to-do list, that boosts your productivity. Put them into small, doable , practical steps. It’s less overwhelming, and helps us gain a sense of control and achievement as we begin to see progress, and this calms us.
  • Go to sleep early, the power of sleep can’t be underestimated, it’s as vital to our wellbeing as eating and breathing. A lack of sleep has been scientifically linked to poor physical and mental health, so by going to bed early we let our body and mind, get the full recovery they require and so we get that recharge. A practice like the bodyscan is a great way to begin to unwind and relax our body and so relaxes our mind and gets us into sleep mode. Good to do when we are going to bed.
